NO! Very toxic!: See your doctor to evaluate the extent of your situation, and let her/him prescribe something for you that will help you out to take while your body heals. There's a whole protocol to this and you don't want reinfection too. So, get the full story from your PCP, or call him/her. There are OTC meds you can take to reduce itching, but call your doctor first. These needs to be documented.

Chiggers: No, bleach is very irritating to the skin and the fumes can be toxic to the lungs as well. Apply calamine lotion or over the counter hydrocortisone twice daily to relieve the itching. You can also take an oral antihistamine like Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or Zyrtec. In the future, wear long pants and long sleeves when in areas of high grass and brush. Apply DEET or lemon eucalyptus before going outdoors.

I wouldn't-toxic: Years ago a faculty member recomended i try wd40 ( a thin petrolium product) for my hunting related bites. It worked so well I have been using it in my practice for decades. It seems to sufficate the buggers but it also has an anti-itch effect.
