Several things: Pregnancy first thing that comes to mind. Be sure to check home pregnancy test, first morning urine. If negative, repeat in 2 weeks. If both neg, unlikely you are pregnant. Anovulatory cycles is another issue. Miss a period or periods become irregular due to "imbalance" in the VERY COMPLEX processes that need to be in sync for you to have period. Amenorrhea: The most common reason for a missed period is pregnancy, so, first check a pregnancy test. Other causes of irregular or missed periods include anything that can upset your hormone rhythm, including any change in birth control pills, use of depo-provera, stress, major change in level of exercise and sudden loss of weight, and many many more. PCOS is one of many possible medical causes.
