Any elective proced-: ure has it's risks and benefits, which is discussed by the surgeon before the actual procedure is done. With AAA, even sepsis or infection is discussed as a complication, which is why you must sign your life away when consenting. You were warned pros/cons. If infection is listed, and can happen anytime the body is open, and antibiotics are given, then it's not neither negligence or medical error.

No: Amongst the many risks of any surgery will always include: infection/sepsis, bleeding/hemorrhage, risks associated with general anesthesia. While doctors/nurses/hospitals work very hard to reduce the risks there is absolutely no way to eliminate the risks entirely.
