A member asked:

Is menopausal woman prone to fits of rage over small, insignificant issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: There are a lot of mood swings that are associated with the perimenopausal period. A lot of this increased irritability is due to decreased sleep. Sleep disruptions often occur due to hot flashes that will wake the woman up several times during the night. Decreasing night-time hot flashes often helps to improve the mood. Hormone replacement therapy, or treatment with ssri's often help this.
