Yes many: As with any physician there are those that do not pass these or may choose not to maintain certification; but, hospitals/facilities and even insurers almost always require it. Ask your physician if they are board certified. The two major boards that podiatric physicians sit for are: american board of podiatric surgery and american board of podiatric orthopedics and primary podiatric medicine.

Many go with the statistics of the american board of podiatric surgery (abps), but their own data shows that less than half or the active podiatrists are certified by them. There is also the american board of multiple specialties in podiatry which offers three different certifications. There are also others, but no more space!
