Sleep apnea: Theorectically, a severe obstructive sleep apnea may cause cardiac arrythmia but usually, once there is damage to the heart causing arrhythmia, it does not spontaneously reverse by improving the sleep apnea. Symptomatic cardiac arrhythmias generally will require medication or ablation or pacing to control them.

It Can: Untreated obstructive sleep apnea increases the risk of arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation. The stress of the irregular breathing and hypoxia (low oxygen) can induce and arrhythmia. Therefore, treating the sleep apnea can improve severity or eliminate it completely.

R/O OSA: OSA TX MAY DECREASE OR STOP ARRHYTHMIA SX: Excess snoring/daytime sleepiness/apneic episodes/ aM headaches. And the Exam obesity/small oral airway/collar size>18. The definitive test is a PSG with split night/CPAP titration. I would request copy of sleep study and get a second opinion if you are not satisfied with the options. You are young CPAP can be difficult to tolerate. ENT FOR UPP EVAL.
