A member asked:

Does alcohol decrease the effectiveness of birthcontrol?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Alcohol should not be consumed excessively under any circumstance. Women, who do not want to become unexpectedly pregnant and want to drink alcohol, should be on effective birth control, for example birth control pills. Unless a woman is on medication that expedites the break down of hormones in the liver, alcohol consumption alone does not make birth control pills less effective.
