Hip fusion: a hip fusion removes the joint and results in a non-functioning hip. It usually stops the pain but stresses other body joints. A hip replacement info;new replacing the natural hip with a metal and plastic cup (socket) and a metal and either metal or ceramic stem and ball. This results in a functioning joint. the new anterior approach to the hip replacement has no limitations to movement.
