BCP and antibiotics: Antibiotics, as penicillins, tetracyclines, metronidazole, sulfur drugs, antifungals, rifampin may lower the effectiveness of BCP ( has been shown definitively only for rifampin). Mini pills may be more suceptible. Use an second method (diaphragm) while on antibiotics and for a week afterward. DO NOT STOP the BCP when on antibiotic. Tetracycline can be taken 1-2 hrs before or 2 hrs after meals
