A member asked:

Burning and welts popped up right after intercourse/rubbing above the vagina. could it be from shaving and the friction?

Could be: This could be the cause. It could also be due to a chemical sensitivity such as a latex allergy if you were using condoms, spermicide,or a lubricant. I notice that you have a UTI. The antibiotics could have caused a yeast infection which has aggravated the problem. I'd advise you to talk to your doctor and have an exam to be sure.

Yes: Shaving and mechanical friction could be the cause. Also consider lubricants, lotions, and latex.

Could be: due to friction but if you used a condom with spermicide, it could be due to an allergy to either latex or the spermicidal gel. Try it without the gel and see what happens. If it still occurs, try it with a non-latex condom. Latex allergy is fairly common. Thanks for trusting HealthTap!
