Once admitted to a hospital can a patient request to stay longer if he or she isnt feeling well during care?

Discharge criteria: "Not feeling well" is not necessarily a criterion for sustained hospitalization. Sometimes the risk of prolonged hospitalization (exposure to serious pathogens, deconditioning, etc) outweigh the benefits. Speak to the attending physician of your primary team to discuss your concerns. http://kidshealth.org/teen/your_body/medical_care/in_hospital.html

Maybe.: Hospital is designed to care for people who cannot be taken care of in any other venue, e.g. home health, nursing home, rehab facility, family support. It is the last resort of the sick, both expensive and dangerous. You can negotiate with your doc, but criteria for admit and discharge are fairly strict and objective. Being well enough to discharge is required, but feeling well enough is not.
