Irregular bleed: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections & hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do a home pregnancy test . There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

Heavy bleeding: If you're going through more then a 1 larger sized pad or tampon an hour you may want to get seen as soon as you can. If you have a gynecologist who also delivers babies, he/she she have an answering service. I would give it a call and see if something can be done over the phone for you.
