Varies: The chances of getting a hernia after any surgery depends upon a lot of things - age, overall health, type of surgery, size of the incision, any infection during the healing process, size/weight, compliance with the doctor's suggestion of not lifting for 3 to 6 months… You are young, probably healthy since you just had a baby, avoiding lifting- Your chances are very low for a hernia.

Low chance : Whole there are many factors involved, the hernia rate for midline incisions (between belly button and pubic bone) is 5-20% depending on the suturing technique. Sideways incisions ("bikini cut"), have a lower chance, and are probably less dependent on suturing technique. Normal activity after 6-8 weeks is what I tell my patients after open abdominal surgery.
