All 1 living system: The Human body is like a planet, no one ecosystem exists in isolation. If you have gastroparesis, clearly the nervous system supplying the GI tract is compromised. Muscle pain can be related to gastroparesis, muscular damage from catabolism, and neuropathy from elevated sugar. So you may, in fact, have 2 problems that can't be experienced separately. Controlling an underlying cause is the solution

Diabetic?: Gastroparesis in many cases is thought to be secondary to damage to the vagus nerve that regulates digestive processes. Risk factors include diabetes, hypthyroidism., abdominal surgery, infections, certain medications like narcotics, scleroderma, Parkinson's, anorexia, and bulemia. Your pain may be from either nerves, muscles or both. Please see your prmary care physician for further testing.

Most likely nerve: The combination of gastroparesis with back pain suggests involvement of the vagus nerve and/or the pancreas. There are many other possible illnesses which can lead to these symptoms. They do require a good medical evaluation.

Back is a stretch: gastroparesis causes pain anywhere from the abdomen to the ears (reflux irritating sinuses/ears), but back pain is NOT common from it. And, the esophagus is the primary organ involved and it has direct irritation, and also spasm that causes pain
