Not much more.: The most common causes of venous insufficiency are genetics, pregnancies, aging and trauma. Because of pregnancies women have a greater incidence of developing venous insufficiency than men do. Over the years, however, I have seen an increasing incidence of venous insufficiency in men and, now, my patient distribution is approximately 60% women and 40% men.
