A member asked:

I have a hemi retinol occlusion. i do not want to have injections. can i take any medication for it. can the eye repair itself?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Several things:: There is no medication for hemiretinal occlusion (stroke). The spontaneous recovery is at the edges of the damaged area but the central area where the blood supply was cut off will loss function. Injections are to prevent abnormal vessels from growing which can threaten the rest of the retina. Before the injections there was no realistic treatment. It is your choice to decline them or not.
