Not stones: No, they are not kidney or gall stones. The only stone it may be is the one that someone threw between your shoulder blades:-). Short of that, you probably have muscle spasm of the complex of muscle groups that all intertwine there (check out a picture of the muscles of the body in that area). Of course, it may not be muskuloskeletal, perhaps is something inside radiating to that area. C doc.

Refered pain: Gallstones and an inflamed gallbladder can cause referred pain between the shoulders ( pain is called referred when the actual problem isn't where it hurts). Usually, this is accompanied by nausea & vomiting. If it isn't, then gallstones probably aren't the cause of your pain.
