Yes...and no: Docs can provide pregnancy tests that are essentially the same - the urine hCG detection. They can also obtain a serum hCG in the mother's blood, which will pick up a pregnancy much faster due to its high sensitivity. That said, unless you are high-risk, your doc may not be able to justify it to your insurance company.
