A member asked:

For vaginal delivery, does the epidural numb the vagina too or does it just take away pains from contractions and not from pushing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Epidural anesthesia: The epidural should remove the sharp pains that occur with pregnancy. There will still be discomfort, but most people say it is more of a pressure than a pain. this is especially true with contractions or with pushing. You will still feel them, but they should not be painful. The anesthesia should affect you everywhere from the waist down.
