A member asked:

Can you take grapefruit juice while taking blood pressure pills?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not with all: Grapefruit juice can block some of the metabolic enzymes responsible for limiting absorption of calcium channel blockers such as Procardia (nifedipine) and others. This results in enhanced effects of the medication, with levels in the body being much higher than intended. This can be dangerous. Your pharmacist can help you determine if your anti-hypertensive medication is in this category.
