Birth defects: Isotretinoin can cause severe, life-threatening birth defects and should never be used during pregnancy. Major areas of involvement can include the brain, nerves, skull, heart, spine of the baby. Absolutely do not use this and consider getting pregnant.

Isotretinoin must not be taken during pregnancy. It has a very high risk of causing harm to the baby, potentially leading to severe birth defects or pregnancy loss (miscarriage or stillbirth). People taking isotretinoin must be on two forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy, and if pregnancy occurs, the medication must be discontinued immediately.
