Isotretinoin must not be taken during pregnancy. It has a very high risk of causing harm to the baby, potentially leading to severe birth defects or pregnancy loss (miscarriage or stillbirth). People taking isotretinoin must be on two forms of birth control to prevent pregnancy, and if pregnancy occurs, the medication must be discontinued immediately.
