Statistics: There are few, if any, tests that are 100% accurate. We measure accuracy by considering a test sensitive or specific. A highly sensitive test rarely misses a condition (few false negatives). A highly specific test rarely mistakes another condition for the one it's testing (few false positives). Repeating the test, with a different kit, will help raise the accuracy of your finding.

Yes: There is such a thing as false positive. A false positive pregnancy test means you got a positive result but weren't really pregnant. Reasons are the test wasn't done properly. You really need to do it as instructed including how long after to read result. There are some medicines and medical conditions that give a positive result. Overall though 99% accurate.
