Varicose vein: It could be a superficial clot of a varicose vein. Immobility from prolonged flights may result in pooling of blood in the legs and clotting. Because you have lupus you are at risk of deep clots (DVTs). You may want to have this evaluated at a local hospital or ER where they can do a doppler of the leg.

Needs evaluation: An itch followed by seeing marks on your calf sounds like an insect bite, but can't say without seeing it. Suggest see a doctor to evaluate. A concern is the possibility of a blood clot in your leg, which can be serious (you are at increased risk after long airplane ride, with pregnancy, and if you have the lupus anticoagulant). If chest pain, palpitations or shortness of breath, go to ER.
