Probably infected.: The redness and raised area suggest that it is infected. You can wash with warm soapy water and keep it clean. Use alcohol for cleansing after you wash with soap and water. If the area of redness increases or there are red lines crawling up the leg you need to get oral antibiotics. Best wishes.
