May need to change.: Having breakthrough bleeding on the newer low-dose pills is not uncommon. You need to be very careful about taking the pill the same topime every day. If tis is happening frequently, you may need a different pill or perhaps the vaginal ring.

Bleeding: Break through bleeding can be caused by a variety of reasons. Since it has been a year with the same pills, break through bleeding as you describe should be investigated further. Evaluation by your GYN is appropriate.
