Possibly.: Does your boyfriend have herpes? Do you have herpes? If you do, then a way to know whether you got it (or any STD) from him is for both of you to get tested for it as well as other STDs. STDs can be passed to you by your sexual partner and any sexual partners, male or female, that he has had, whether they are remembered and acknowledged, or not. If he has oral herpes, that could have been passed.

Yes: Herpes can be dormant (no symptoms) but still have virus and still be infectious. Meaning can have it, no symptoms and still pass it. Used to think need to have active lesions to be infectious. We were wrong. Only why to know is testing, HSV 1 and 2 IgM and Ig G titers of blood. Also, common for partners to not always tell truth re sex history, partners, etc. Sorry. Hope this helps. Dr R
