Approx. 6-8 hours after i change my fentanyl patch i get very itchy. normally i take benadryl (diphenhydramine). is this normal? i get severely itchy. everywhere.

It can be normal: All narcotics can cause itching. Most likely the 6-8 hours is the delay in absorption of the drug from your patch. Given the sedating effect of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and fentanyl combined it might be better to use a non-sedating antihistamine like fexofenadine
