Can gas cause tightness in upper left abdomen? burping helps but after a little while my left abdomen feels tight again. what is this?

??: Simple gas could do this. Were you treated with antibiotic for the bronchitis one month ago? It might have caused some gastritis. Hiatal hernia could also cause these symptoms. Constipation affecting the left side of the colon could also make your abdomen feel tight. If this persists more than a few days you should see your doctor.

Possible: Yes- it is possible to have gas pains in the upper left abdomen (LUQ). Feeling some relief from burping sounds like this may be the cause of the LUQ pain in a 17 year old. You can try an over-the-counter antacid to help to resolve your symptoms. If it lasts more than a few hours, check in with your doctor.
