Wash your hand: MBLD is a disorder of the "Complement" pathway of the immune system, which helps protect against certain types of bacteria (encapsulated). People with MBLD may be more susceptible to other germs as well. Talk to your doc about Pneumococcal and Meningococcal vaccines. As for the zoo, Salmonella is a particular risk. But enjoy the zoo--just wash hands and don't touch animals or stool!
