Just curious. if a testicle is dead, how long until it starts to shrink?

Testicular torsion: Usually there will be swelling for several weeks and then it will shrink quite a bit. It is important to have it evaluated even if it is too late to spare the testis. Leaving it in can cause increased fertility problems down the road.

Testicle: If a testicle was "dead" , it would be because of an acute ischemic (lack of blood supply) to the testicle. This would be very very painful and would not go unnoticed. Testicular pain needs to be addressed quickly , in case torsion (twisting) does occur.
