Ultrasound: One study showed that the accuracy of a 12-14 week ultrasound depends on the measurements taken. However, even the least accurate measurements were still between 3-5 days of the correct date. As such, an ultrasound being off by 2-3 weeks is very unlikely.

Ultrasound dating: Ultrasounds can have a two week plus or minus fudge factor in the second trimester. By the time you get to third trimester, they can be off by three weeks. More than likely, your doctor will do a second one to compare growth and dates later on if there is a large discrepancy.
