A member asked:

What are the treatments or acute hyperosmia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very little to treat: Actually, this is an uncommon problem. I mostly see it in patients withdrawing from certain drugs such as Ativan, Xanax, and Valium which gets better over about 1-2 weeks. I've used dopamine antagonists such as Reglan (metoclopramide) before or just treated withdrawal symptoms from the benzos but honestly, now my habit is to just recommend the patient be conservative and avoid places with strong odors.
