No pain receptors: There are no nerve endings in the brain except for those in the membranes and some of the larger blood vessels. Traction on a vessel or the meninges can cause pain. Not sure what kind of cyst you are describing. Arachnoid cysts are usually not near the basal ganglia. Cysts due to infection can enlarge. Colloid cysts are typically right in the middle. You might need to be re-assessed.

Maybe: The headache could be the cyst and you should get it checked out. Other symptoms of an expanding intracranial mass includes nausea and dizziness.
