A member asked:

After wiping with toilet paper following a bowel movement, i found a green pea on the toilet paper, which made me wonder, do we get any benefit from veggies since they're not digested?

Great benefit: Vegetables are full of important vitamins, nutrients, and fiber. Not all parts of all vegetables are able to be digested by the body and they will pass through to your stool. Digestion starts in the mouth so chew your food well and let the body take care of the rest.

Yes: The structure of CELLULOSE makes it impossible for us to break it down. It is what is called dietary fiber. Certainly it prevents constipation and allows gut movement to work better. Also, cholesterol sticks to it and fiber lowers cholesterol a bit. Furthermore, we don't know why but it is associated with better control of glucose in diabetes. Also, higher fiber intake is associated less cancer
