Antibiotics and bc: Rifampin is the only antibiotic that decreases the effectiveness of birth control. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) does not.

Yes: Some of the Antibiotics do lower the efficacy of Birth Control pills , so you may want to use extra protection like Barrier methods during this period.
