Vagina hurts: I am unclear as to what area you are referring too. If are referring top of vaginal area called mons or inside vaginal canal you need to be seen to determine if there is infection or trauma. More questions need to be asked to help you. See a healthcare professional for an exam.

Several causes: Pain at the top of the vulva can be caused by trauma during sexual activity, local infection, or referred pain from the pubic bone and/or the pubic symphysis. See your doctor or gynecologic specialist for definitive diagnosis and treatment.

If you mean the inner most part of the vagina, that is where the cervix is and you may have cervicitis. This can go away on its own if it is not an infection but you need to be tested to see if it is an infection. Go to your doctor to have the tests done and get treated appropriately.
