Folic Acid Dose: I cannot recommend a dose of 5 mg every other day unless your doctor specifically ordered this for you. The FDA limits OTC folic acid tabs to 0.4 mg. Women in child bearing years need more so discuss what's right for you with your doctor. Because high doses of folic acid mask vit B12 deficiency, if you take more than 1 mg of folic acid per day, you should take 1,000mcg of Vit B12 daily. Talk w/MD.
