Not entirely sure.: by Core, I'm assuming core muscle groups. Wow, this is common. 1) muscle grow faster than tendons so, it's too much core and too little tendon! 2) women from age 12-17 change pelvic architecture and frequently this causes strains 3) everyone needs flexibility, strecting, gradual building up in exercise. Good coaching, maybe phys. therapy. cannot say in your particular case w/out exam

Not really: It all depends on where the pain is at. If lifting your thighs hurt the groin then more likely problem is in the muscle of the lower extremities. If pain occurs when you sit up or do a crunch then it is possible that this may be due to weak core muscles especially to the lower abdominal region.
