Ovulation: Ovulation occurs in normal hormonal circumstances almost always 14 days prior to the onset of a menstrual period. On a "regular" cycle of 31 days, ovulation will occur on day 17. You can demonstrate this by buying a thermometer at a drugstore which measures degrees in tenths. Follow directions on the package, and a rise in temperature will tell you one day prior to release of an egg.
