A Period: I'm guessing you had the Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUD? (Not the copper T?) Mirena (levonorgestrel) IUDs have progesterone as the active ingredient. If the IUD is taken out or falls out, you may have a period even though it isn't time. This is because the progesterone level in the uterus suddenly drops. I would continue the birth control pills but use condoms during intercourse your first pack as you may not be protected.
