Related: Lactose intolerance can be a side effect of gluten intolerance. The inside of the intestines become inflamed from the gluten and then has a hard time digesting lactose. It can take a long time for the intestines to fully heal with a gluten-free diet, but eventually you should be able to enjoy dairy again.

Probably not.: It is unlikely that a hysterectomy would cause lactose intolerance. If present, it was probably not a problem due to your avoidance of milk products. It would be simple to try lactaid or lactose-free products to see if it helps you.
