Do interval training: Research has shown that 20 minutes of interval training (12 seconds light, 8 seconds hard, repeat 3 x a minute for 20 minutes) is as effective as 60 minutes at one speed. Also interval training is as effective as cardiac stents preventing a heart attach.

2 sessions: 2 sessions spread apart by a couple of hours could raise your metabolism longer than one long session. The idea is- after each half hour session- your metabolism will be raised lets say for 1/2 a hour ( a total of one hour of increased burning calories). If you work out for one hour- the after burning of calories will only be for the 1/2 hour, so youre better splitting up your routine.
