A member asked:

Is it normal for a newborn girl to have on-off pseudomenses in a 2-weeks period?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Few Q-tips worth: Probably 1/10 infant females will have a small amount of menstrual blood as early as the 4th and seldom later than the 14th day after birth. It is seldom more than would cover a few q-tips over several days. This is due to withdrawal of pregnancy hormones which stimulate the baby uterus. Many more will have a mucousy sticky discharge. When it finishes, it should not return again until puberty.
