Yes: The meninges actually have a lot to do with the normal flow and absorption of cerebral spinal fluid. When they are inflamed, as occurs with meningitis, their contribution to this process can be affected and the fluid builds up in the brain. Would be detected by CT scan showing the abnormal fluid accumulation. Condition is one type of acquired hydrocephalus.

Although rare and unusual, especially with VIRAL meningitis, post-infectious complications can occur due to the inflammation and local fluid buildup. Presence of secondary hydrocephalus would be seen more often if bacterial or fungal meningitis.
