Some risk: Precum has sperm in it just like the "main load". Pregnancy from unprotected intercourse has been documented on any day of a womans cycle, including during menses.There is "no" safe period to have sex if you want to avoid pregnancy.

Part of that depends: on how long her period was and how long her menstrual cycle is. Most studies have shown low levels of sperm or no sperm in pre-ejaculate with sperm not being motile (however, don't know how promptly samples were examined). One small study published in 2011 showed that there are some individuals with a high motile sperm count in pre-ejaculate. See:
