Dr. Kass hit: the nail on the head. Oral Lamisil (terbinafine) is still the best and most successful treatment for this, but only after a fungus is confirmed by culture. Ask your doctor about pulse therapy, which is 70% less medicine with the same cure rate. The FDA dropped the liver function test requirement 5 years ago with Lamisil (terbinafine) because it's much safer than originally thought, but some docs still order them.
