I know albuterol and ipratropium do the same thing, why did i get prescribed both?

Different mechanism: Albuterol and ipratroprium work by different mechanisms in the body to essentially achieve the same result. Some people respond better to one or the other, but they are often used together as a combination drug to better manage the symptoms of asthma.
