AKA Allergies: Immunologic hypersenstivity reactions are any reaction that occurs due to an overreaction or inappropriate reaction by your immune system. The most common example is allergies. Other examples include contact dermatitis, chronic hives, large local reactions to insect bites. There are some types of hypersensitivty that do not involve allergy type reactions, but they are rare.
