A member asked:

I have a natural cotton and horsehair mattress. is it dust mite and allergy free?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: Do not be fooled by the terms "natural" and "organic". These do not always mean disease free, or harmless and many are not certified to begin with. Your mattress is a terrific hiding place for dust mites and for allergic issues. The best, non-allergenic mattresses are those that use synthetic fibers or sponge rubber that mites cannot live off.
