Not reliably: The liver is a difficult organ to feel, simply because it lives under the rib cage on the right side. This protects the liver from physical damage. Thus, the physician can only reliably feel the liver if it is enlarged and then only under the rib cage border. A more reliable test is the liver ultrasound or other imaging, such as CT scan or MRI. Blood tests are also useful to assess liver health
